9/11 Memorial Museum: The 9/11 Memorial Museum serves as the country's principal institution concerned with exploring the implications of the events of 9/11, documenting the impact of those events and exploring its continuing significance. The Museum tells the story of 9/11 through interactive technology, archives, narratives and a collection of artifacts. Covering 110,000 square feet of museum space it has a growing permanent collection of artifacts, stories, photos, video and other materials that shape our shared history. About the Memorial: Honoring the lives of those who were lost is at the heart of our mission. Occupying eight of the 16 acres at the World Trade Center, the Memorial is a tribute to the past and a place of hope for the future.

Eataly Downtown (World Trade Center): Eataly: A massive Italian market and restaurant complex brought to the States by Mario Batali and Lidia Bastianich. A spin-off of an operation by the same name just outside of Turin, Italy, the store is a local a mecca for foodies. In addition to six full-service restaurants it offers a dizzying array of Italian specialty products, fresh fish and meats, impeccable produce and a full wine store.

Chelsea Market: A square block of foodie heaven and home to dozens of vendors including the Lobster Place, Amy's Bread, Chelsea Wine Vault and Buon Italia Imported Italian Food. When you had your fill of shopping you can step out on the Highline, an elevated park that gives you a birds-eye view of the city.

We'll leave the city around 4:00pm and head back to the store. Register now, spaces are limited.

NYC Gourmet Markets: Arthur Avenue and More   8am to 6pm
The Upper West Side and the amazing shops and restaurants of Arthur Avenue
Saturday, 04/22/17
$69
Join us for a food shopping trip to New York City. The day begins at 7:30am with a continental breakfast at Carlow Cookery. We'll leave promptly at 8am in a comfortable coach and head to the Upper West Side, home to Zabars, Citarella and Fairway Market. From there we head for what many now consider to be New York's real Little Italy - Arthur Avenue.

The residential feel of the Upper West Side is one of its most alluring characteristics. Many of the folks living there work in the commercial areas of Midtown and Lower Manhattan and it has the reputation of being New York City's cultural and intellectual hub. It also is home to some great gourmet markets.

Zabars: A store that has to be experienced to be truly understood. You have to see the crowds, hear the banter, smell the croissants baking, admire the rich scents of the coffee, sample cheese from every corner of the world, enjoy the beauty of hand sliced nova...it really is a one of a kind adventure.

Fairway: A gastronomic temple featuring glistening fresh produce, homey prepared foods, tempting baked goods, immaculate meats, seafood, appetizers, deli items, as well as generous arrays of coffees, olives, oils, and a legendary cheese department. A skylighted cafe serves sandwiches, pizzas, burgers and breakfast.

Citarella: From what began as a humble fish market in 1912, Citarella has evolved into a world-class gastronomic destination with just-caught seafood, choice meats, international cheeses, breads, charcuterie, smoked fish and caviar, and whimsical pastries.

Arthur Avenue: Food is taken rather seriously on Arthur Avenue. So much so that the neighborhood supports a redundancy of Italian markets, butchers, and pastry shops that would render Adam Smith agog. Arthur Avenue can support this level of commerce because it serves not only its residents but also their far-flung relatives and children, who come back on the weekends to shop for tastes of home.

Nearly every shop on Arthur Avenue is already some sort of an institution, so by merely walking around and poking your head into stores that strike your fancy, you'll inevitably be rewarded. Some can't-miss locations include Biancardi's, a perpetually bustling butcher shop, Randazzo's, the neighborhood source for an incredibly fresh seafood, and Calandra Cheese shop, which makes mozzarella and ricotta so fresh, the staff insists you eat it right away. That's just the start...there's so much more!

We leave the city around 4 p.m. and return to the store. Act fast, spaces are limited.
